Tehran is ready to reinitiate nuclear talks with the United States provided that it is treated with "dignity" and "respect", Iran's foreign minister has announced.

Abbas Araghchi stated solely negotiations was effective, and disclosed fresh requests had come from intermediaries to restart talks with the American leadership. He asserted Iran had zero undeclared nuclear sites, and Tehran had not yet reached a point to authorize the global atomic watchdog to inspect bombed nuclear sites for safety concerns.

Walking a Challenging Path

The foreign minister is treading a complex course since Iran wishes not to be perceived to be operating from a situation of vulnerability, and he emphatically stated that Iran had come out stronger defensively and psychologically from the joint assault on its enrichment centers in June.

He was talking at a strategic meeting in Tehran where he restated that Iran had "an absolute privilege to enrich uranium on home soil that it will perpetually retain" – the primary cause of the stalemate in the prior discussions.

Earlier Talks Unexpectedly Ended

The prior phases of talks between the US and Iran were concluded unexpectedly and bitter termination on 12 June when Israel, with Washington's assistance, targeted Iranian nuclear sites in a 12-day war that concluded with the US president declaring the facilities had been eliminated. Afterward, EU nations exercised their authority to reimpose UN-wide sanctions, but Iran maintains they have not had a substantial consequence.

Perfect Agreement Offered

Iran's diplomats said they felt they had reached a "perfect agreement" to the nuclear fuel concern in prior discussions, when it was decided an domestic cooperative with US participation could enrich uranium.
