An extensive two-month journey through the Australian Coast has been cancelled days after the tragic passing of an elderly woman who was abandoned by the cruise liner on a isolated coastal location.

The passenger had been trekking on the tropical location with fellow passengers from the vessel, but parted ways from the group for a pause. The liner sailed away leaving her and went back after some time after the ship staff discovered the woman was missing.

An extensive rescue mission located her remains the following day.

Investigative bodies are examining the incident, alongside law enforcement and the official investigator.

Chief Executive of the voyage organizer stated that travelers and personnel on the ship were told that the rest of the cruise had been called off due to the "tragic passing and earlier engine troubles".

In a statement, he mentioned that guests would be issued a complete reimbursement, and said the organization was working "to arrange the return journeys of the individuals via chartered flights".

Officials also issued an revised statement, and said they had "provided a notice to the Master" preventing any further travelers from entering the liner.

The representative said that they would attend the liner in Cairns upon its return.

The liner originally sailed from Cairns on 24 October, and was only 48 hours into the expedition at the point of the elderly woman's passing. The remote island was the initial destination on the itinerary.

Passengers on the vessel - who generally pay tens of thousands of money to take part in the cruise - were ferried there for a daily excursion with the choice of walking or snorkeling.

Family Reaction

The offspring of the deceased woman said that her relatives was "surprised and distressed that the ship left Lizard Island after an planned tour without my mother".

In her statement, she portrayed her mum as an "active octogenarian" who was a member of a bushwalking organization.

"From the little facts we have been provided, it appears that there was a breakdown of attention and common sense," she said.

She further stated that she hoped the examination would be able to identify what "the organization should have done that might have preserved Her existence".

"Based on information from the authorities that it was a very hot period, and mum became unwell on the hill climb," she explained.
